Sydney, 2 June 2025 — Westpac has appointed Andrew McMullan as its new chief data, digital and AI officer to strengthen its digital transformation and artificial intelligence capabilities. McMullan will report directly to CEO Anthony Miller and officially join the bank in September 2025.
Bringing with him a wealth of experience from the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, where he served as chief data and analytics officer, his mandate includes driving responsible innovation to enhance customer and employee experiences.
“Andrew’s appointment will accelerate our strategic efforts in data analytics, digital innovation and responsible AI,” said Anthony Miller, CEO of Westpac. “He’s an outstanding executive and thought leader who has successfully transformed data and digital capabilities in leading financial institutions globally. By integrating our data, digital and AI functions under Andrew’s leadership, we aim to become a truly service-centric organisation.”
McMullan’s arrival follows five years of groundwork laid by CIO Scott Collary. He will work closely with Collary and the executive team on initiatives including the delivery of Westpac’s UNITE programme, a major transformation agenda.
His career also includes over eight years at the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), where he held various technology leadership roles, including Head of Product Analytics and Director of Analytics, Customer Decisioning, and Customer Contact for Personal and Business Banking.
The Digital Banker will continue to monitor developments as Westpac ramps up its investment in digital and AI leadership.
