Revolut India makes two new senior appointments ahead of launch

Revolut India

UK-based financial super-app Revolut has made two new senior appointments for its India team in preparation for its upcoming launch in the country.

Amarjeet Kumar has been named as head of strategy and operations. Bringing nearly 20 years of work experience, Kumar will be responsible for leading the overall launch of Revolut’s product offerings in India.

He joins from Indian B2B marketplace and retail platform Jumbotail, where he served for nearly six years – first as director, credit and payments, and then as vice president financial services. Prior to that, he served as chief business officer at consumer lending start-up Quiklo. His earlier experience extends to working at firms such as IBM, Dow Chemical and Evalueserve.

Commenting on his new role, Kumar expressed his enthusiasm for joining a fintech company “which is truly revolutionising money management through an effortless, seamless and cost-efficient platform for all financial needs, starting with foreign exchange and sending money abroad”.

Revolut India has also appointed Girish Singh as head of growth. Having joined in April 2023, Singh has been working on building Revolut’s customer acquisition strategy through data-driven, targeted marketing campaigns. With 12 years of industry experience, he has previously worked more than four years as head of marketing and growth, APAC, for Uber for Business and held senior roles at Paytm and American Express.

“To date, we have over 150,000 customers on Revolut India’s waitlist, twice the number compared to a year ago. This illustrates enthusiasm in the market and signals the need for a product like Revolut to serve the unmet needs of users,” Singh commented.

Speaking on the appointments, Paroma Chatterjee, CEO, Revolut India, said, “Their extensive industry experience and expertise will play a crucial role in driving success for Revolut in India. I look forward to working closely with them on our mission to revolutionise the customer experience for all things money, starting with spending and sending money abroad.”

Since commencing operations in India, Revolut has hired more than 3,000 employees in the country and has grown its waitlist. While it has not revealed the launch date, Revolut hopes to roll out its app in India soon.

Coming to terms with the “new normal”, global investors are now on the look-out for attractive and stable investment opportunities.

Needs of Private Wealth customers and families worldwide have drastically changed due to the pandemic and banks have had to accelerate efforts to deploy a multi-channel service strategy and safeguard clients’ businesses and wealth against negative impacts of economic uncertainly.

The Global Private Banking Innovation Awards will recognise the world’s best private banks, wealth managers and asset managers that are championing innovation across advisory, service, products, customer experience and more.
