Nordea has signed an agreement with Swedish fintech firm Mynt to develop a new digital platform for small and medium-sized enterprises, aimed at streamlining spend management and expanding the bank’s services across the Nordic region.
According to a joint announcement, the platform will combine Nordea’s business banking services with Mynt’s spend-management technology. The service is expected to launch in 2026 and will be offered to SME clients in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.
Founded in Stockholm in 2018, Mynt offers a business credit card solution integrated with automated expense management tools. The company’s system allows for receipt matching, real-time spending controls and direct syncing with accounting software. According to Mynt, the platform can reduce the time spent on expense reporting by up to 95%, potentially saving SMEs between 10 and 20 hours per month.
The partnership is part of Nordea’s broader push to enhance its SME offering. According to Swedish business publication Omni Ekonomi, the bank has also made senior appointments in the segment, including the recruitment of Sebastian Hougaard, formerly of Alantra.
The agreement is Mynt’s first formal collaboration with a traditional bank. “By embedding Mynt’s spend management platform directly into Nordea’s offerings, we are reshaping how banks support business customers across Europe,” said Baltsar Sahlin, CEO and co-founder of Mynt, in a statement quoted by Finance Director Europe and Financial IT.
Mynt raised €22 million in a Series B funding round in December 2024, led by Vor Capital with participation from Visa, according to a company press release. The firm, which is valued at approximately €175 million, has been expanding into the UK and Central Europe.
The new platform will be embedded in Nordea’s digital banking channels and will allow business customers to issue corporate cards, track expenses in real time and automate bookkeeping processes. The companies plan to launch the service next year, with the possibility of extending it to other European markets.
