Nomura has signed an MOU with Circle to jointly develop next-generation digital finance infrastructure across global markets, including Japan, leveraging Circle’s stablecoin and blockchain expertise alongside Nomura’s financial markets experience.
The collaboration will explore on-chain applications such as instant settlements using fiat-backed stablecoins, enhanced collateral management, fund transfers, and capital markets transactions, aiming to move digital finance from proof-of-concept to practical business infrastructure.
The partnership responds to rising industry demand for efficiency, speed, and transparency in cross-border payments, FX, treasury operations, and tokenized assets, according to a statement on June 26, 2026.
Both firms will now conduct detailed discussions covering regulatory, legal, technical, and commercial aspects as they work to create new use cases and market infrastructure.
Circle, known for its USDC stablecoin network and enterprise blockchain platform Arc, provides the foundational technology for this strategic initiative.
