NAB announces executive leadership changes

NAB Group Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Irvine, announced several changes to the bank’s Executive Leadership Team, along with updated responsibilities:

  • Subject to approval, Shane Conway has been promoted to Group Executive, Transformation, reporting directly to Mr Irvine, effective 1 December. In this role, Mr Conway will continue to lead NAB’s Technology Modernisation and Simplification agenda.

  • Sharon Cook, currently Group Executive, Customer & Corporate Services (CCS) and Group General Counsel, will retire on 31 December.

  • From 1 December, Group Chief Operating Officer, Les Matheson, will take on the responsibility for CCS, which includes Customer Services, Corporate Affairs, Climate, and Group Governance.

  • A new role, Executive, Group General Counsel, will be introduced from 1 December, reporting to Mr Matheson, and will focus on legal and regulatory affairs. Jon Benson, currently Chief Legal Officer for the Corporate & Customer Divisions Legal, will be appointed to this new role.

“These changes are designed to support our strategic goals by streamlining key programs, enabling faster and more efficient delivery of simpler, enhanced customer experiences. The appointments also reflect the ongoing evolution of our executive team and the depth of talent within NAB,” said Mr Irvine.

“Shane’s promotion underscores the growing importance of our technology modernisation efforts. He will work closely with Patrick Wright, our Group Executive, Technology & Enterprise Operations, to ensure we simplify and improve processes for both our customers and colleagues.”

“I would also like to thank Sharon for her invaluable contributions since joining NAB in 2017 as part of the Executive Leadership Team. Her unwavering commitment to doing what’s best for our customers has made a lasting impact, and we will certainly miss her counsel. We wish her all the best in her retirement.”
