Liberty Mutual Insurance has appointed Scott M. Sperling, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Thomas H. Lee Partners, to its board of directors.
Sperling has been with Thomas H. Lee Partners since 1994, where he also serves as co-chair of the management committee and sits on the investment committee. He has helped expand the private equity firm to more than $50 billion in equity capital under management and partnerships with more than 175 companies.
His career also includes more than a decade as managing partner of an affiliate of Harvard Management Company focused on alternative investments, as well as an earlier role as a senior consultant at Boston Consulting Group. Sperling has extensive board experience, including as lead director of Thermo Fisher Scientific since 2022 and chairman of Massachusetts General Brigham.
Liberty Mutual Chairman, President and CEO Tim Sweeney said Sperling’s experience in capital allocation, long-term value creation and complex organisations would support the company’s continued development. Sperling said he was looking forward to contributing to the board and supporting the executive leadership team’s vision for the insurer’s future.
