J.P. Morgan Private Bank announced the appointment of Selim Elgen as a Managing Director and Market Head for the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Based in the Dubai office, Mr. Elgen will be responsible for leading the strategic expansion and buildout of the Private Bank franchise in the UAE, focusing on serving ultra-high net worth (UHNW) families across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Elgen is a seasoned industry professional, joining J.P. Morgan with over 31 years of experience in the banking sector. He joins from Citigroup, where he held several senior leadership positions, including Region Head for Citi Private Bank in the Middle East and Africa, overseeing territories that included the Gulf, Levant, North Africa, Turkey, and Israel. His extensive background highlights his deep expertise in complex wealth management services, including investment management, estate planning, and specialized advisory.
United Arab Emirates is a cornerstone of the J.P Morgan’s growth strategy in the Middle East, and Elgen’s appointment underscores its commitment to attracting world-class talent to serve clients. Mr. Elgen’s three decades of experience and proven leadership in scaling private wealth businesses across the MENA region will be invaluable as the bank continues to deepen its relationships with the region’s most prominent families and entrepreneurs.
This strategic hiring reflects the growing competition among global financial institutions for top wealth management talent, driven by the increasing complexity of wealth and the rapid growth of the UHNW segment in the Gulf.
