A new partnership between du Pay and GCash aims to simplify cross-border transfers for Filipinos living in the United Arab Emirates, as digital wallets continue to gain ground in key remittance corridors.
Under a memorandum of understanding, the two platforms will enable near-instant transfers from the UAE directly into GCash wallets in the Philippines, allowing recipients to access funds within minutes.
The collaboration combines du Pay’s growing user base in the UAE with GCash’s scale in the Philippines, where the mobile wallet serves millions of users and a broad merchant ecosystem.
Transfers sent through the integration can be used immediately for everyday transactions, including bill payments, education fees and online purchases, extending the utility of remittances beyond cash withdrawals.
In a statement, the companies said the partnership is designed to “enhance the overall cross-border payment experience” for overseas Filipinos, a segment that remains among the most active remittance senders globally.
The move reflects a broader shift towards wallet-to-wallet remittances, as fintech platforms seek to reduce reliance on traditional bank transfers and physical remittance centres. Previous integrations in the same corridor have similarly focused on speed and direct access, with transfers settling “within minutes” and bypassing intermediaries.
