Citi has announced the appointment of Cristina Mascanzoni to the Capital Markets and Advisory team as Director and Technology Coverage Lead for Australia and New Zealand.
Cristina joins from Goldman Sachs, where she has advised clients across a broad range of sectors and transactions, including Zip’s equity raise and convertible bond restructure, Afterpay’s cross-border sale to Block and the recent strategic review of OFX. Her appointment reflects Citi’s continued investment in technology coverage and our ambition to build a market-leading technology franchise in Australia and New Zealand. Cristina will report to both Ben Connolly and Philippe Perzi, Co-Heads, Capital Markets and Advisory.
In this new role, Cristina will lead Citi’s technology coverage efforts and partner closely with sector, product and offshore teams to deliver a streamlined approach to technology clients and opportunities. She will help bring together sector expertise, product capabilities and insights from across the platform to deliver the best outcomes for the bank’s clients.
Technology represents one of the most significant growth opportunities for our franchise. As the sector continues to evolve and increasingly intersects with infrastructure, healthcare, financial institutions and sponsors, strengthening collaboration across coverage and product teams will be critical to delivering the full breadth of Citi’s capabilities.
This follows the hiring of five MDs for Citi’s Technology Investment Banking franchise in the US last week. In recent months, Citi has globally led over US$40bn of convertible bonds in the global technology sector and advised on the world’s largest and third largest IPOs; SpaceX’s US$75bn IPO and SK Hynix US$26.5bn IPO. Other notable deals include working as exclusive financial advisor to Cognite on its US$3.1bn sale to Schneider Electric and Capital Markets Advisor to Apollo, and Joint Bookrunner & Joint Lead Arranger on US$35bn Broadcom AI XPV Platform.
Locally, the team is supporting Blackstone on a potential IPO of a portfolio of Airtrunk assets on the Singapore Exchange and is sole lead manager on Gilmour Space’s pre-IPO funding. This is in addition to advising Dhilmar on its US$3.9bn acquisition of Anglo’s Steelmaking Coal Portfolio and Steadfast on its response to an US$5bn takeover proposal from a consortium consisting of Amwins Group, Dragoneer and KKR.
