Citi India has appointed Srini Kannan as Head of Digital, Technology, Communication, Business & Professional Services, and Industrials for Citi Commercial Bank (CCB), effective early December 2025.
In his new role, Kannan will oversee CCB’s strategy across these priority sectors, driving growth by leveraging Citi’s global network in more than 90 markets. He will also focus on unlocking investment banking opportunities and deepening client engagement to expand the bank’s market share in India.
Gunjan Kalra, Head of CCB Japan, Australia and Asia North & South, said Kannan’s strong track record with high-growth companies would strengthen Citi’s franchise. “Srini’s experience in excellent client service and full-spectrum banking solutions will add to our growing franchise in India,” Kalra said.
K Balasubramanian, CEO of Citi India and Banking Head for the Indian Subcontinent, added that Kannan’s appointment comes as the bank continues to expand one of its largest commercial franchises globally. “The verticals Srini will lead and focus on are all future engines of growth for India and Citi,” he said.
Kannan joins from JPMorgan, where he headed the Innovation Economy and Venture Capital coverage in India, leading engagements with founder-led and VC-backed firms. He previously helped build JPMorgan’s mid-corporate business in South India.
Kannan began his banking career with Citi in 2002 and spent a decade covering multiple sectors, including technology, media and telecommunications, and financial institutions. He holds an electrical and electronics engineering degree from the University of Madras and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
