2023 Awards Highlights of Global Retail Banking Innovation Awards

Why Nominate

As an increasing number of financial institutions commit to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions, key investment and financing decisions are now being viewed through an ESG lens. Taking cognizance of climate change and its deleterious impact, financial institutions are looking to minimise their carbon footprint throughout their operations as well as advance sustainable growth in collaboration with broader stakeholders. Capital allocation decisions, impact financing and responsible investment considerations has now necessitated financial institutions to manage organisational transition for a more resilient and secure future.

Indeed, the greening of financial institutions has only just commenced but through prudent leveraging of technology and data, financial institutions are better placed to target Scope 3 industries/sectors and truly stifle emission growth. With an appropriate sustainability strategy, financial institutions stand to unlock greater value and generate higher long-term returns, while also contributing to socio-economic well-being.

Now, more than ever, it is imperative that financial service firms generate positive sustainability impacts through innovative business models and services aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) and Net Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA).

We invite nominations from retail banks, SME banks, wholesale banks, wealth managers, private banks, investment banks, asset management companies, investment funds, insurance organisations, FinTech companies, technology solution providers and their extended corporate/institutional clients.

Judging Criteria

Belief Statement

Shortlisted nominees are selected on the qualitative and quantitative depth of their nominations. The Digital Banker research team will shortlist four institutions or individuals per category, which will then be put to our impartial panel of expert judges who will undertake a rigorous audit type process to carefully select the winners.

We use a proprietary, numerical & qualitative scoring methodology which is applied to all submissions and augmented by assessment in: Innovation, Sustainability Impact, Responsible Investment & Finance Performance and Governance, keeping the focus on the issuance and development of ESG related financial instruments the institution has launched to date.

We uphold the highest adherence to confidentiality and personal data. As such, all responses will be treated as strictly confidential. No data shall be shared beyond the assessment of The Digital Banker’s judging panel, unless permission has been granted.

                  COVID-19
Amid economic activity revival on the back of the Covid-19 vaccine program, organisations moving from business continuity plans to stable working environments, together with the slightest improvement in unemployment numbers, forced the world to adjust to new realities. Coming to terms with the “new normal”, global investors are now on the look-out for attractive and stable investment opportunities.

Needs of Private Wealth customers and families worldwide have drastically changed due to the pandemic and banks have had to accelerate efforts to deploy a multi-channel service strategy and safeguard clients’ businesses and wealth against negative impacts of economic uncertainly.

The Global Private Banking Innovation Awards will recognise the world’s best private banks, wealth managers and asset managers that are championing innovation across advisory, service, products, customer experience and more.
